Privacy notice
Last updated: 23 October 2026
This notice covers this website, schools.tripos.org.uk. The site collects very little, so the notice is short. If you use the Tripos student app, it has its own privacy policy: read the student privacy policy.
Who we are
Tripos Ed Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17346719. Registered office: 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number ZC275142. For the information described here, we decide what is collected and why.
For anything about privacy or your data, email privacy@tripos.org.uk.
What this site collects
The feedback form. Only if you send a message, we store:
- your message;
- the role you choose (student, teacher or school staff, tutor, or other);
- your rating from 1 to 5, if you give one;
- which page the message was sent from;
- the date and time we received it; and
- a code made from your IP address, explained below.
The form does not ask for your name or email address, and we do not link a message to an account. Please do not put names or other personal details in your message. If you do, they are stored as part of it.
The IP address code. To limit spam, we turn your IP address into a code using a one-way hash with a secret key (a salt) that we keep in our hosting account. We store only the code, never the address itself. We use it to count how many messages come from the same place in an hour; the limit is five. It is pseudonymised, not anonymous: because the same address always gives the same code, we can tell when messages share one. For IPv6 connections, the code is made from the network part of the address (the first 64 bits), not the whole address.
The live numbers. The totals near the top of the home page (students, completed practice interviews and tests, and reviews) are counted by our database. Your browser asks our server for three totals and receives nothing else: no rows, names, emails or identifiers.
Cookies, analytics and tracking. This site sets no cookies and does not store anything on your device. It has no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Its fonts, images and code all come from this site, and the page does not load anything from other companies' servers.
Technical logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, handles every request to this site and, like most hosts, keeps technical logs, which include IP addresses and times. These are used to run and secure the service.
Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write.
Why we use it
- To read your feedback and decide what to improve.
- To prevent spam and abuse of the feedback form.
We do not use feedback for advertising.
How long we keep it
Feedback, including the code made from your IP address, is kept for 24 months from when it was sent, and then deleted.
Where it is processed
- Vercel Inc. hosts this site and runs the two small programs behind the feedback form and the live numbers. Those programs run in London. Vercel is a company based in the United States, and it serves the site's pages through its network of servers.
- Supabase hosts the database that stores feedback. Our database is in Ireland.
We do not pass feedback to anyone else. Only people with administrator access to our database can read it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, ask us to limit how we use it, or object to our using it. Email privacy@tripos.org.uk. We will reply within 30 days and we do not charge.
We cannot tell who sent a message from the message or the code alone. To find yours, we may ask roughly when you sent it and what it said.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If we change how this site handles data, we will update this page and its date.
